From Africa to India and a change in between!

It's such a cliche, working a nine to five office job, dragging yourself out of bed in the mornings. To go out and, as Roy Orbison put so well, be working for the man.
It wasn't to a difficult decision to up and leave that life and go out on a year long trip around the world. But i didn't want it to be just a trip, so i decided i wanted to go to Africa, a long life dream of mine and volunteer. So after a Google search found these guys called GVI i had enquired and before i knew it i was off to Africa.

After the most amazing 10 weeks including dolphin watching, monkey watching, amongst other things. It was the people in the community's where i found where i wanted to be. Then to be placed on an Internship out on the bush of Kenya for 6 months, was it. It was incredible working with ex-poachers living in mud huts no electricity, running water just the basics of life makes you realise things especially about yourself.
So after leaving the Tsavo West project, taking a couple of months time out i wanted back in.

To get involved!

Now i find myself Project Coordinator in the gorges city of Kochi in Kerala, India. In a job that if i hadn't of gone to Kenya would never known existed and taken my life in such a different direction. At an amazing school with fantastic kids and amazing communities, with some of the most interesting culture and amazing food in the world.

It's a new project with so much room for growth and huge potential, where we really can make a difference. So to those who have been, congrats on what you have achieved to those in the future, i look forward to seeing you. And to those not sure and sitting on the fence, i have two words for you GET INVOLVED! You never know how a simple Google search will change your life.

Sincerely

Ross
