Time to say goodbye....

So here I am my penultimate day at the School – 10 weeks near to complete. I have had such an amazing time here and to say that I am sad to be leaving is a vast understatement. You don’t realize how much you will take the children into your hearts when you first arrive, but these amazing, funny, loving, polite children who brighten up your every day dive feet first into your heart forever. All the children in Standard 4 are great but it wouldn’t be right if I didn’t make a special mention for Nandakishore, Noufal, Shijon and Gayathri a.k.a. missy. The three boys have the most fantastic characters they make me smile every day with their funny little comments, their smiles and the fact they make me feel like a million dollars; a minute in their company is food for the soul. Gayathri is a primadonna in the making; if this one doesn’t get what she wants in life then I’ll eat my words. Amazingly for a 9 year old Indian girl she understands sarcasm and most definitely understands why she is now affectionately known as “missy” she is after all a little miss.

I don’t want to leave the Auxilium School I am hoping for a last minute posting as Sister Anne’s PA – there is still time and I know she like me I have the bruises to prove it, (this isn’t some sort of volunteer torture it is her sign of affection – a hit to the arm speaks volumes).

There have been so many laughs during my time here in fact I don’t think I have laughed so much in a very long time. I would be hard pushed to mention every moment but a few of my favourites;
Everyday spent at School with Standard 4
My first Indian cinema experience – Harry Potter and Chesa holding my hand crying (I hardly knew her at this point)
Houseboat take 1 and take 2 both very different but both great weekends
Fundraising in Munnar “God’s Own Country” in so many ways
Christmas at the girl’s home – the true meaning of Christmas
Christmas – rooftop BBQ, enough said
VARKALA (thank you Donna, Chesa, Angie, Ridhi and Leti for the best NYE)
Preethi, Shop & Save, Oys Café, Kashi - a day wouldn’t be complete without a stroll around the hot spots of FK
The Rocket

My final word has to be for Ridhi and Leti (and now John) whose continual planning and support contributes so much towards ensuing the volunteers make the most out of their time here – I am certainly testament to that. These past 10 weeks will be in my heart forever.

So now it is time to say goodbye and “Thank you GVI” (said with Kevinesqe clapping).
