Meeshapulimala
GVI India has tied up with a great adventure tour company for its side trips that will take volunteers beyond the tourist tracks and give them a different experience of India. One such trip is the trek on Messhapulima which is the second highest peak in Kerala. The program will involve a scenic drive through spice plantations and tea gardens to reach Munnar. The trek starts from an altitude of 4500' ft gradually goes to over 8000’ ft and passes through sholas and mountain streams which criss-cross the area. The area also has wildlife – notably elephants, sambar, tiger, sloth bear and Nilgiri tahr. The camp is set up at an altitude of approximately 7000 feet. We went for this amazing trip and its an absolute must do if you are in Kerala!
