Mother of all Temple Festivals

Thrissur Pooram was celebrated in the district of Thrissur , Kerala yesterday with a magnificent spectacle of fireworks, umbrella showing competition and a splendid elephant procession for a crowd of over 100,000! The word pooram means a group or meeting, it was believed that every year the dynastic gods and goddesses of the neighbouring province met together for a day of celebration. The gods and their entourage arrived for this meeting on colourfully decorated tuskers.The most beautiful and grand elephants are selected for this procession. GVI was on ground to see it all in action!
